“On Christmas Eve, instead of a sermon, it would be enough to shake hands, look deeply into each other’s eyes, and embrace each other with love. See the tears of the suffering. In thought, hold the innocent prisoners and their families close to your heart. Hold orphaned children close to your heart, wives widowed prematurely. Sing a carol. And that would be enough.”
These words of Father Jerzy Popiełuszko remind us that the essence of Christmas is closeness, empathy, and a courageous heart. That goodness begins with simple gestures—presence, a look, an outstretched hand.
On the occasion of Christmas, I wish that the time of Christ’s birth will fill hearts with peace, hope, and the strength to do good. May it be a time of closeness, reflection, and mutual kindness.
With respect,
