The First National Congress of Schools named after Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko in Podlasie

The first National Congress of Schools named after Father Jerzy Popiełuszko will take place from September 12th to 14th, 2025.

Participants will learn about important places associated with their school patron. They will thoroughly explore the village where Father Popiełuszko was born, meet his family, and visit the places where he played and studied as a child. They will visit the school he attended and the church where he was an altar boy. Students and teachers will meet witnesses to history, participate in historical workshops led by the Institute of National Remembrance, learn games from that era, and participate in Podlasie singing lessons and theater activities.

The Congress program includes a bonfire. The event will culminate in celebrations of the 78th anniversary of Father Jerzy Popiełuszko’s birth, which will be held in front of the priest’s former home in Okopy.
